The Memories

Hello, again for the few that keep up with this. I have discovered that I am able to keep up with this blog about once a year, and this year I am a little late. That is okay! At this point, TEAM is just a memory. A memory of how I was able to grow in my walk with God and my role as a leader. I learned so much through the years that we were able to meet, especially in the later years when we took initiave and created fun projects like this. I am using some of the skills that I developed through TEAM to this day.

For example, I am a Resident Assistant. At my christian college we call the position instead a Resident Discipleship Leader (RDL). I am a leader for a group of girls on my college campus. I get to lead a weekly devotion (going through a specific book of the Bible a year with a group of other RDLs who are also leading a different group of girls and guys in the same topic). This year, we are going through the book of Ephesians. This weekly devotionals would run similarly to how a TEAM meeting would go down. I have learned how to do better at prepping for such meetings, and we take the time to have small groups (or breakout groups) which we didn't ever really do with TEAM. Of course, meeting in person is a little diffeent than trying to meet with people from around the world weekly on Skype.

I am also a part of a daily prayer night. I do not attend daily because it takes place anywhere from 9pm and 1am, and that late is when I stop functioning. However, our college has taken initave after many people suggested that we should get together and pray for one another. In the course of about a month we were able to get about a fourth of campus involved at one point, though there are around five people who show up regularly. This prayer group reminds me of how TEAM would pray for one another, but I love how we are reaching out to others around us, and we continue doing it daily. We have a shared Google Sheet with all of the prayer requests written down so we can continue praying for one another throughout the day before we meet back to one another. When this started we told each other that we should meet for at least 10 minutes. These events often take an hour or two now, which is good.

I have also gotten the oppourtunity to sit in on some other campus-lead Bible Studies. These Bible Studies, however, are for a specific friend group that does not really associate with me anymore so I lost contact there. But, I learned what a Bible Study lead by a peer looks like being on the recieving side. I’ve seen different styles of Bible Study and learned how to engage the people in discussion.

When applying to jobs or going through my educational degree, I’m realizing how much the time in TEAM provided recourses and “tools” in my “tool belt” for ministering to others and leading a group of people. For learning how I’m motivated and how I can motivate others.

There are so many other things that TEAM taught me, too. But most importantly I’ve learned that TEAM was an opportunity for me to grow in my walk with God and my relationships with others.
