Armor of God: Part 1
Dear Readers,
I know I have started writing articles on the Fruit of the Spirit, but at the moment I am unable to continue those articles until later on. So I have decided to start writing about the Armor of God. It is a subject I am learning about in my devotions using the "You Version" Bible app (which I recommend). To start on this topic I am going to summarize the first day of the devotion and try to help you understand what I read. Not only do I hope it will help you to grow in the Lord, but writing and explaining these things helps cement these ideas in my mind. So let's begin!
We use our five senses every day we wake up and every night when we fall asleep. Smell, taste, sight, touch, and hearing are vital for everyday living. No doubt they would be hard to live without. The things in your life that are the most troubling are all perceived using those senses. I am here to tell you that those are not the real issues. All that occurs in the physical world is connected with battle occurring in the spiritual world. The real enemy-Satan-would like nothing better than for you to turn away from the spiritual reality and focus on the physical problems you face. If you are so concentrated on what is in front of you, that means that he can continue to destroy what is underneath- the important part of your life. And the more you ignore him, the more damage he will inflict upon you and those around you. He may be invisible, but he is very real. The enemy is very persistent and is continually waging a war against us.
If you are a believer that doesn't mean you are immune to the attacks of the enemy, but it does give you access to the Father. He has the power to defend you and whatever is coming against you. If you want to be able to win the fight and cripple the enemy's influence in your life, then you need to realize that you are connected to more spiritual brawn than what you are up against.
In Ephesians, Paul wrote not only to show his readers the spiritual battle already in existence but also largely to show the strength that is available to everyone who is in a relationship with God through Christ. In this book, Paul highlights one of the most important ket aspects of spiritual armor: prayer.
Prayer to Paul was so important and critical to gaining victory over the enemy. Several times throughout the letter, Paul even burst out praying whilst writing. And when he did pray Paul was strategic in his way of going about it. He was sure to tell the reader exactly what he was praying for because he knew that prayer was able to change everything about our lives. Victory in a spiritual war can not be separated from prayer.

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
